People of every race and color have one thing in common — the need for a beautiful smile. Unfortunately, for many, their misaligned or crooked teeth stand in the way of their happiness. Fortunately, there are some remedies. The traditional remedy is to wear braces, which can make you feel awkward at times. In today’s time, there is a much better solution, and it’s called Invisalign. This new and innovative orthodontic align technology can improve your smile without the discomfort and awkwardness associated with traditional braces.
What are Invisalign aligners?
Invisalign clear aligners are small tooth-sized devices that can be worn on the teeth to correct their alignment. They are made of Smart-Track material — a synthetic multilayer and colorless polymer developed and patented by Invisalign. Each aligner is custom-made and fits snugly around the tooth it is made for. Once in position, they apply gentle and constant pressure on your teeth, causing them to move little by little to the desired position.
What makes Invisalign aligners so much better than braces is you can remove them before eating and brushing your teeth. The ability to wear and remove them at your pleasure makes life a lot easier compared with braces, which are permanently fixed to your teeth for the duration of the treatment. Another plus point of Invisalign is they are almost invisible; no one will know about them unless you tell them.
What does the treatment involve?
At Maiden Lane Dental we will thoroughly examine your teeth to determine if your teeth need aligning. Because Invisalign is a more advanced solution to straightening misaligned teeth, we will highly recommend this for you if it is the right treatment for your individual circumstance. We will give you a thorough explanation as to the treatment plan, time frame and results to expect.
If you choose Invisalign, our technician will take several photographs, digital scans, and digital X-rays of your teeth. We then send the records to the Invisalign laboratory, where two or more sets of clear aligners will be made to fit your teeth perfectly using advanced 3-D imaging technology. The process may take four to five weeks.
While waiting for the Invisalign to arrive, we will continue to devise the best treatment plan for you. When the aligners are received from the laboratory we will start the process by inserting the first set on your teeth. We will give you clear instructions on how to put them on and how to remove them. Each set of aligners should be worn for one to two weeks as recommended according to your individual teeth alighting treatment plan. You will also be advised to wear them as much as possible for the treatment to be effective.
The total treatment period can last from 12 to 18 months. During the period, you may use between 20 and 50 clear aligners.
What are the advantages of Invisalign?
The main advantages of Invisalign are:
- They are removable: You can remove the aligners and put them back on anytime you want to. This saves you the discomfort associated with braces when eating and brushing your teeth.
- They are almost invisible: The Smart-Track material that is used to make Invisalign clear aligners is almost invisible. This saves you the embarrassment associated with wearing braces.
By the time the treatment ends, you will find your teeth so well-aligned and your smile so beautiful you will be recommending Maiden Lane Dental and the product Invisalign to others.
